Your All-Time USMNT XI

This is disgusting, horrid, indefensible, an abomination... how dare they picture Brad Friedel with hair?!? The final vote totals are listed here (some rather strange ones, too, unlike the USWNT version).

By the way, my promised pair of themed USMNT XI's have dropped: one for a massive/hypothetical single game scenario here and and one team with the best pure talents here.

5 people left Donovan off the ballot? How can you possibly justify that?

im not saying Donovan is the forth midfielder on this list, but if he was, for some people, who at the same time felt that JOB should be in a four man midfield, that is where maybe you come up with five people who do not think Donovan is on the list.

He's the all time leader in both goals and assists. He's won the Honda player of the year 7 times. There's no argument for him not being in the team. I'm not even sure there's an argument that he isn't the first name on the teamsheet.

jolazo, if the coach wants to go more defensive, then clearly there is an argument for keeping Donovan out of the lineup, but at the same time, Donovan could surely slide in to wynaldas spot.

There are moments when I think you are a brilliant performance artist, because there is no way anyone can mean what you seem to be saying. This is spectacularly wrong on so, so many levels. One of them is that Donovan's defensive work rate is spectacular for a guy who scores as much as he does. Review the tape of US-Italy WC 2006 as just one example.

All I can say is wow...

its all up for debate, isn't that great?

tony m, I think what you mean to say, is that if Donovan had taken over in 2006 and helped secure victory and advancement, his accomplishments and stature would be that much more secure.

whats the big deal, some people from different eras feel their players are better, and they can take a guy like tab ramos and say if he was playing on the US team today he would be an all out superstar

personally, I think all the hoopla aside, john harkes had a pretty solid run, and could probably be mentioned. if it was a one off game, id think harkes would have to be in there.
