An American in Istanbul (updated)

Unless I am crazy (which let's face it, is always a possibility), I just saw Turkish TV showing film of Jermaine Jones walking through Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul from this morning. I think we all know what that means with regards to late night reports he was close to joining Beşiktaş, but I will get on the phone to make sure.

UPDATE: Okay, I am not crazy. Or at least so much it affects my TV viewing. I did not see this part before...

UPDATE UPDATE
: And now, the club website has him taking the medical.

UPDATE³: Okay, so now Beşiktaş has confirmed to me that the transfer is complete. Just waiting to be told the contract length and then there will be an MLSS report.

Hey Greg, have you heard anything about Jozy? Daily Mail saying Sunderland are looking to off-load him today. I'm sure it's BS but have you heard anything?

Poyet has said otherwise and it is The Mail. If a team is quote unquote willing to listen to offers, I would think that process would start earlier than 12 hours from the deadline. That being said, of course I will look into it, offside flag at the ready.

How does bringing in Scocco affect Jozy? I could see why rumors are swirling.

Frankly, I think it helps him. Now there is someone else who likes to play around the area in the same ways. Can you even remember that last close combo any Sunderland player worked with Altidore? I cannot. Scocco will do these kinds of things.

I hope that's the case. The strikers have been on an island this season, being mainly decoys. It's worked in turning around Sunderland's season, but Jozy and Fletcher are wilting away out there as a byproduct.

That is not what has turned around their season. More than anything else, Mannone has.

The last time I was in Istanbul's (badly in need of A/C) airport, I was in line behind Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Seeing JJ would be way cooler.
