Do not take this as confirmation that Juan Agudelo definitely won't suit up for FC Utrecht in tonight's KNVB Cup quarterfinal contest at NEC. However, I can tell you, as of last night, he had not been paperwork cleared to play and those I spoke did not sound overly confident it would get done today.
As Grant Wahl reported yesterday, Agudelo may not be registered for Eredivisie play before the weekend, all of which combined means his Utrecht debut could come in the home derby against Ajax on February 2nd. Needless to say, I should be at the Galgenwaard for that one.

How is that a derby?
I love the site and appreciate your work. I love the Netherlands and miss De Wildeman.
Amsterdam and Utrecht are a very short train ride apart. Of course, the rivalry is more heated from the Utrecht side than it is from the Ajax side, but it is a derby.
Utrecht's defense is going to be fun to watch.
...and they're out. Sucks, that shortens the amount of possible caps for Juan.
You only win caps for a national team appearance...but I agree with the point you intended to make.
Correct, I meant apps.
Greg, totally off topic, but in your MLSSoccer piece about Sunderland making it to the League Cup final...you mentioned that the black cats have made it to Europe regardless of the outcome. I believe the runners-up in FA cup are the only one that gets this honor if the winners are already CL bound. In League Cup, if the winners are already in CL, the Europa spot goes to the EPL table (i.e. 6th spot).
"Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League." - PremierLeague.com
You are correct. Slipped my mind for a moment.
You should consider getting a twitter account so I don't have to hijack topics like this :)
Ha! Nice try.
