If I was king of this crazy world...

Or is it crazy king of this world? Either way, my feeling is that false claims on the application and... erm... not actually having set dates eight years from kickoff would be grounds for losing your job if your job was to throw a World Cup.

Am I being harsh? You could argue that. But remove the emotion and think like, ya know, it is an operating business. I am right next to the point where, in that light, I'd argue it is not harsh.

I will never understand why certain ancient men are such fiends for money. How much does a distasteful legacy cost these days? At least one winter World Cup, that's for sure.

I personally don't think it's a crime or unreasonable to have a one-time deviation in the schedule 8 years from now. Other countries have international tournaments in the midst of their domestic seasons. Why are the European leagues sacrosanct? It’s a global game.

That said, I 100% agree that misrepresentations and potential corruption around the Qatar bid should result in some people being toss out of their jobs and the bidding reopened. It’s unconscionable.

Greg, any thing to add?

@TaylorTwellman: Ready for a blockbuster? I'm hearing @torontofc on the verge of signing Michael Bradley

@Tony M: Sure, 2022 WC is 8 years away... however, they've already sold the broadcast rights with the understanding that it would be held in summer. If they push through for a winter cup without clearing it with their broadcast partners, there's going to be a shit storm. Trust is a big thing here, and FIFA is shitting where they eat.
