Story Meeting (updated)

No, we are not talking about a sitcom or movie. The folks at Stoke would do well to get their story straight because mere hours after the chairman lied his face off to say 'nothing has been signed' with Juan Agudelo, manager Mark Hughes directly debunked his claim in a press conference.

UPDATE
: I had the wrong link in there. Fixed now.

so they're going after Aron and not Juan. Damn they kinda doing hom dirty.

Do you see them making a switch Aron to stoke and Juan to AZ

Greg Seltzer said...

Huh? Where do you get this idea?

dikranovich said...

greg, that idea is in your link. its the missing link. lance-a-lot link. linker soldier spy.

Greg Seltzer said...

Oh hell, wrong link. Lemme fix that.

The link u gave states stoke are in hot pursuit of Aron. I thought possibly a swiych might be on between the two

Greg Seltzer said...

It was the wrong link. That was an old rumor which already drew the NSC offside flag a couple weeks ago.

mark hughes most telling quote, "if we come to a brick wall after investigating every possibility, maybe we will have to hold our hands up and say it is not meant to be."

dikranovich said...

aka: the double pivot re-debunk reversal.

Greg Seltzer said...

Okay, I will bite; what do you imagine that means exactly?

dikranovich said...

greg, lets see if anyone else might like to take a stab at the quote first, and decipher its meaning.

Greg Seltzer said...

Ummm no. I will go ahead and guess no one else sees what you see in it. Please, do share.

Only thing I can think what he's getting at is hughes might sell him out right to the club he's loaned out to. Hmm? Just out of curiosity when if ever he wanted to return to mls (after being sold to loan team or stoke deal succeds) does he get sent through a lottery or does new england still has his rights?

dikranovich said...

all hughes really say is that agudelo is "tied" to the club. whatever the heck that means. and it really sounds like this deal is hinging on a loan suitor stepping forward.

Why do you do this to yourself? What did facts ever do to you?

dikranovich said...

greg, what facts are you talking about?

Is there an actual quote where the Stoke chairman says they haven't signed Agudelo?

In the article he just says "We're still looking at various options but nothing's been sorted yet." He could easily be referring to a potential loan.

Greg, Sciaretta beat you to the punch!

Greg Seltzer said...

Maybe he did, can't win them all. I am still the only one in the world who figured out he was a Stoke player all along. :)

Someone from Agudelo's agency refuted the report on Twitter. It can never be easy.

You guys have no idea how difficult it can be to sort through these things sometimes.
