Tactical Difficulties
I know the promise was to start off the latest Clipboard yesterday, but the mounting injury problems at the back have it temporarily on the fritz. Please bear with us...
A lot of guys not playing this weekend, or even not making the bench. AronJo, Bedoya, Kljestan, Deuce, Boyd, Brooks, Lichaj. Any of those that we need to be concerned about, Greg?
Brooks is just getting back. Lichaj cannot seem to shake his hip thing or whatever it is. Bedoya has a thigh injury, I keep trying to get the club to make a commet... French people, I guess. Kljestan, I have no idea what that is, but they are clearly worse without him. Dempsey, who knows with that hot mess team. And Boyd, I forgot he had a red card in his last game. My bad on that one.... stupid extended break.
Frankly, right now I am most concerned with Chandler/Cherundolo.
Yeah, I'm really curious what your RB clipboard looks like right now. Seems like everyone other than Cameron is injured or out of form. If the WC started now, I might have Parkhurst has the 2nd choice RB.
So, if Chandler's injury is truly only a meniscal tear, which is not out of the realm of possibility given the mechanism of injury, he could be back sooner than 10 weeks. It all depends on what part of the meniscus is torn, the skill of the surgeon, and the aggressiveness of the physical therapy. I haven't read whether he is getting the knee scoped, but I'd assume he is, since most acute, sport-related meniscus injuries dont respond to conservative treatment. I've seen 6 week comebacks before. Here's hoping for the best. For background, I work in sports medicine, and I'm not trying to toot my own horn. Just trying to provide some medical information when ignorance regarding sports injuries gets passed around these places like candy on Halloween.
Having Chandler healthy and in the USMNT 23 allows for some flexibility with Cameron. If Chandler isn't called up, I think you have to keep Cameron on the back line.
au contraire mon frère. im just here to keep you in check, and I play all my games on the road.
history suggest that being integrated into the team is an important part of the process. david regis is a good example
fast tracked into the national team and starts in 98 without really having been part of the process. their were other problems in this world cup of course, but I think maybe this hurt the team as well.
to magnify, it was hejduk that earned the spot in 2002, and llamosa, who was naturalized after regis, became a bigger part of the team in 2002 and it was because of being better integrated into the system.
regis was more gifted than both, but it might be that the only USA fan that would choose regis over hey dude, is regis wife.
chandler can come back next cycle, without the pressures and possible frictions, and he can earn his way back into the fold.
@Dikranovich: You're wrong dikranovich. Chandler was on fire lately and certainly is one of the best fullbacks the U.S. has besides Cameron. It was really unfortunate that he got injured and I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Sorry, but national team decisions for dual nationals aren't about pride, its about being able to play at the highest level. Do you think Aron feels more American than Icelandic? USMNT gives him the best chance to play in the WC. You can't blame these German-Americans for weighing their options before committing.
I do not judge things from feelings I get from afar. Instead, I just asked him and listened to what he had to say. But if you think your method of gleaning is better, more power to ya.
Tied w/ 1: Adams, Brooks, De la Torre, Green, Lichaj, Novakovich, Torres, Weah, Wooten, Yedlin
Shutouts 7 Horvath, Club Brugge 6 Kronholm, Holstein Kiel 3 Yarbrough, León

Poor Chandler. Just when he was maybe starting to possibly think about thinking about perhaps sitting down to think about playing for a national team.
O_O
chandler is certainly a good player, but maybe it will be for the best to hold him back until next cycle and let him get a fresh start then.

He is only here to be contrary. Chandler can have a fresh start now, at the end of his injury. It is all hands on deck, dik. You should know this.
Johnson to BMG?

@ mark: Last I took the pulse, we had a live situation. He may go there, but it is not over yet.
@ dikranovich: I only have the energy to sigh... and there it went.

I mean, chandler wants to represent his country so badly. cant you guys just feel it?
