Form is temporary; class permanent.

Donovan is such a good interview. He answers honestly but picks what he says well

Klinsmann is such a joke. I still can't can't get over the fact that we are headed to the World mother-effin Cup without one of our best players. And all because of a petty, ego-maniacal d-bag.

Klinsman is Machiavellian.

The question is do you want nice guy Bob Bradley or a man not capable of compromise like Klinsman (told by people who know him well?)

Both Bradley and Klinsman are stubborn in their own way, in terms of questionable player selections.

But Klinsman's ego would give filmmaker James Cameron a run for his money.

And he is a eurosnob, isn't he? We have a squad full of average Bundesliga players. Yes average. Fabian being the only player who at this point in time would get a sniff from the EPL. And there is no doubt the EPL is a far superior league, let's put that to rest.

How a non-committal Tim Chandler playing for relegation fodder just waltzes in and takes a spot from a more deserving player is beyond me. Chandler has talent. Big deal. Does his upside outweigh his downside? We'll find out soon enough. My point is that JK values players who came up in the German system far greater than heart or desire, or the ability to build a team that will fight for each other... or even be able to communicate effectively.

This is a mistake. Not only did Donovan get screwed, we did.

The real question is what did Brad Davis have that Donovan didn't? The whole "Donovan is a forward" talk is pretty transparent BS, meant to make it seem like our forward ranks are too full for him. Julian Green is an young, x-factor player who got called in where Brek Shea would undoutedly have been called. Donovan is a supersub. Davis is very limitied, apart from set pieces, which Donovan isn't a slouch at either.

Anyway, props to Donovan. He's a guy who knows how to put the personal #$%^ in the rear view mirror when playing with others. JK was clearly fed up with him, must really have been hungry to see him fly through the moon door (GOT spoilers). Oh well, if Donovan can miss a chance to get back at him on network TV, we can certainly move on.

I know this is a ridiculous question, but would Donovan be better or worse than Chandler / Beasley at LB? All three would be playing there out of position....

Let me just say that this was way down at the bottom of my brain until alcohol induced the idea tonight.

Donovan is a 'supersub'? Where and how did that BS get started? Donovan is better than all three current LM choices and should and would start for this team if we didn't have a jackass for a coach. It's one thing to argue that Bedoya is better than Davis but it is downright silly to suggest that Bedoya is a better player than Landon Donovan.

Let's get back to the purpose of the original post. Donovan is honest and refreshing. Compare the answers he gives to any other American sports star.

He is a class act.

Fuffan, you're taking those words too far. I'm stating what is pretty much a given: JK wasn't going to start Donovan, and preferred Bedoya and Zusi. This has been common knowledge based on recent games played- Donovan has been on the bench before coming in on the wings. In Brazil, that's the role he was going to take. The fact that we could have had Donovan come off the bench late in the game, whether you think it is BS or not, would have been a great boon to our chances late in the game. Now Davis is the player we bring off the bench in terms of a more seasoned player. That's a majoy stepdown, as I'm sure you'd agree.

Personally, I don't have any problems with bringing Donovan off the bench. That's a great weapon to have, and the starting lineup would still be quite solid.
