... and now this just Yedl-in, too.

As promised:

  • The reason DeAndre Yedlin's camp passed on the Roma transfer was the plan for him to spend the rest of the year in MLS before heading to Italy. He wants to go over sooner rather than later, something that becomes possible for him with the capture of a Latvian passport.
  • The race for DeAndre Yedlin is now between Inter Milan and Napoli.

Full MLSS report is on the way at some point, but this is the info it will contain. The hall of mirrors is gone and you are solidly caught up on this situation now.

Can Yedlin give Besler half of his enthusiasm to leave MLS?

Heh. Even if that article is accurately toned (and I am certainly not saying it isn't), those two players are at very different junctures of their career and dealing with very different level clubs relative to the leagues. Yedlin is in play for teams near the top of Serie A, while Besler is being chased by some closer to the bottom of the Prem or down in the C'ship.

If Besler was in talks with Chelsea or Arsenal or even Everton, I'd think he would have jet packs on his shoes by now. :D

Thanks for the info Greg. Any particular reason why the interest in Yedlin seems concentrated in Italy? Where are the German/French/English/Spanish clubs in all this?

Greg Seltzer said...

That is a very good question. I can say most German clubs are tightening up the purse strings this year, so he would simply be too expensive for most there.

And he may well have or have had some interest from Arsenal (my sources) and/or Lyon (from a French report, cannot recall which outlet off the top of my head). I have not been able to confirm or reject those yet.

Arsenal? Are you deliberately trying to turn me on?

It's something I have heard from a couple places, but they are not birdies I know well and I have not yet been able to determine if they are accurate (or inaccurate) on this.

Hopefully he goes to Inter because those new Home kits are nice, but I would have preferred Romas hah.

Off topic but is Bobby Wood going to show up in any of your depth charts for 2018? Always thought that kid had a high ceiling and just realized he'll be going up against Boyd at some point this season.

Greg do you think he should've taken the roma deal?

@ Matt:

I guess you will need to wait and see after we get through the midfield. :D

@ soccer boy:

You know me, I think he should do as he wishes. But from a soccer standpoint, these other two clubs have pretty exciting rosters and outlooks, too. Me, personally, I would rather live in the north of Italy... near the pesto and Parmesan and calimari.
