Convention and Draft Time

Hey folks, it's that time of year again.

The NSCAA Convention, MLS SuperDraft and NWSL Draft have returned for their annual get together, this year - like the last one - in the Philadelphia Convention Center.

The Convention is a collection of media, coaches, agents and sales people involved in soccer, especially at the youth and collegiate levels. There are speeches/lectures by Sir Alex Furgeson, Pele and various player development personnel, among others. I'll be attending a few and hopefully posting some tidbits on here for our readers.

MLS' yearly amateur draft has lost a lot of steam heading into this season's edition. Top collegiate players either chose to stay in school or refused multiple MLS Generation Adidas offers, leading to a very top heavy draft. There's a consensus no. 1 and no. 2, with Canadian international striker Cyle Larin expected to be the first overall selection and Cristian Roldan, an attacking midfielder, going second. Ramon Martín del Campo is just one of a few USYNT associated names in the draft. I'll be at the draft to track players and trades, if any relate to the USMNT or youth teams.

The 2015 MLS SuperDraft will not be televised, but will be streamed on beginning at 12:30 pm.

The NWSL Draft will kickoff at 9:30 am on the 16th.

So Toronto have three of the first eleven picks. It looks like a lot of wheeling and dealing is going down today
