Sooooo, Zardes as attacking mid then?
Lines are listed right to left and semi-colons separate lines, so Zardez is listed as the RM in a 4-4-2. At least as it is listed, we are going empty bucket. We shall see, occasionally a little trickery takes place.
WTF is this bullshit line-up? Denmark brings a strong team out and we trot out some experimental crap??
What a shock, the empty bucket has yielded ton of time on the ball to a 3 man midfield.
Maybe the worst defending I've seen from a US MNT side in 10 years. Wow, they were clueless. Bendtner was just laughing to himself all night.
And Chandler? What's German for "sucks"?
Positives were an active, forceful Altidore and putting the only two decent chances in the net (although Altidore looked offsides on the second).
Can't wait to see what Juergen tries in the back v. Switzerland.
Even with tonight, what he is doing at the back is usually not the real problem. The real problems are what he is doing with the central midfield area and the fact that he is no longer even making in-game adjustments. Those, and the fact that this drastic personnel switch toward potential has killed any team cohesion out there.
And then we'll be made to hear the customary 'I can't understand why we lost... The boys obviously weren't ready... Fit... (Fill in the blank )' crap.
So... Klinsi will Blane...?
The thing is, it took some individual brilliance from known quantities to make this even that respectable. The parts that are up to the coach-selection, organization, clarity- were nowhere to be seen
Far as I can tell, the only way 4-4-2 works against good opposition anymore is if you play it Atletico Madrid style, where the wide midfielders pinch in a lot and the forwards work like dogs (almost a 4-6-0). But Klinsi keeps ceding central midfield and expects us to boss games...
So yes, I would have loved to see a 4-2-3-1 with Zardes as the attacking mid.
i agree with greg: the biggest problem with our defending was our being out-manned and out-of-sync in the center midfield.
when the likes of christian eriksen has all day to pick out an unlocking, 20-30 yard ball, there's only so much the backline can do.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but is it too late to call Cameron in for the next friendly? He and Danny Williams seem like the only two that have a chance of filling JJ and Becks shoes at DM, and let Bradley do what he does best. Also, who the hell is going to be the next #10? 4-2-3-1 please, as much as I love seeing a two striker set, it's not much use when you can't win the midfield battle.
It was a disappointing game all in all, though at least Bradley looked sharp, hopefully his days as a #10 are over. But you can never be sure with Klinsmann.
Player wise, we have some great players to be excited about and I am. But as a team there is nothing to be excited about. I almost don't even want to watch the Swiss game. I will but man we have looked like crap for soooo long.
