Belated Bobby

I enjoyed a little travel over this long holiday weekend (it is here, anyway) to go see ReQuest Crew and The Royal Family perform live on their first ever visit to Europe, but I am back on the case now and will have a seasonal Running The Numbers bit later on. Last night, "Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to just call them Aue" forward Bobby Wood scored his third goal of the season in a losing cause. Check it out...

I was watching the box score and Erzgebirge was up 2-1 after 60', and I was hopeful they could make a push out of the relegation zone. Alas, Braunschweig tied it up at 69', then got a red card at 70', and went on to score two more goals with just 10 man. How does that happen?!

That's a nice sequence for Wood. And a nice finish. How high is this kids ceiling? I feel like he's been bouncing around in Championship-level competition in Germany for a long time. And I always hope guys like that come to MLS.

He reminds me a lot of Zizzo, who's looked good for NYRB this year.

That defending is atrocious, though. How are you going to show him inside from that RB or RCB? He played to let him cut back inside, which is weird unless Mr. Wood has a Messi left foot that I don't know about.
Still a good finish.
