Back to the old Clipboard

Now seems a good time to refresh my USMNT Clipboard, and then when we are done I will get into a few tactical suggestions. As always, this is my take on a depth chart, and not any guess at Klinsi's.

Let's start in goal, where we now have an old fashioned keepers duel. And now that we have the dual stars around, Nick Rimando moves along for a wide-eyed pupil-type.

Brad Guzan
Tim Howard
Bill Hamid

Refresh my memory; is your clipboard the best now (current depth chart), or the best for an upcoming game/tourney?

@Justin: Good point. I like Timmy to weave together a frayed back line against Mexico and early in qualifying. Guzan gets the start, after working on his positional sense and distribution, in the Hex.

Will there be any backlash against Howard for his sabbatical in light of the venom directed towards Landon? I realize there are many differences between the two situations but the current fanbase tends to see in black and white.

I think the job should remain Guzan's and just use Howard when Guzan is unavailable. I feel this way mostly because I think Howard will be out of the picture by 2018 anyway, so let Guzan continue to work with the young backline.

I think Howard learned from Landon's mistake, and discussed it with the coach, and took it at the right time, right after the WC.
