Young Guns

Jurgen Klinsmann's latest USMNT roster of 23 does not include the likes of Bradley, Dempsey, Beckerman, Evans and Beasley. It does see the return of a few veterans like Howard, Besler and Jones. It also includes Wooten in a fairly young attack stable.

G - Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), William Yarbrough (León)

D - Ventura Alvarado (Club América), Matt Besler (Sporting KC), John Anthony Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Greg Garza (Atlas), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Michael Orozco (Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham)

M - Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Joe Corona (Veracruz), Mix Diskerud (NYCFC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt), Danny Williams (Reading), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham)

F - Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Aron Johannsson (Werder Bremen), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin), Andrew Wooten (Sandhausen), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)

I want a mainstream journalist to ask the name of the two players that Mix is in front of on the depth chart.

@Streetsweeper - definitely a good question. Although he may get to play the #10 type role with Williams or Morales as #6 - maybe even Jones. Not sure where Jones fits in anymore with 2 #6's and how many CBs?

Come on y'all we all know that Mix and Corona are just "a little bit ahead of Feilhaber right now."

looks like we're a little thin at centre-back /s

in all seriousness, i'd like to see ventura get in a run-in at fullback

ill also mention that joe corona is in fantastic form for veracruz right now

Dany, if corona is in such great form, could you explain why he has been first sub out in three of the last five games, before halftime?

Lol what are you talking about? I think u got the wrong joe benny corona, homes...

no he doesn't, he's right

Corona has not yet been subbed out before halftime, in his most recent appearance he was removed at the break. So far this term, he has played 64, 90, 75 and the 45. And he has assists in three straight games. No clue what dikranovich is on about now.

Greg, Veracruz have played seven games this season. Joe Benny corona crespin has started six of those games this season and has been subbed out five times. JBCC has 335 mins on the pitch in those six games, that averages out to 55 mins a game. You have to surmise that in the two games GS left out of his comment, that JBCC played less than 45 mins

Greg Seltzer said...

Umm, he has not played in their last two games. So, no, one does not need to surmise anything. One just needs to check the factual data.

No shit, I am a human being. Duh. And as it turns out, the stats I quickly checked were not up to date.

Now, I have had time to go check the Liga MX site. Corona did in fact get subbed out early in the last two games (the only game he missed was the opener). And yet... you still manage to inaccurate for surmising. I do not know the circumstance of these two quick hooks. Maybe he had a knock, maybe the coach changed things up, I have no clue. I do know he has started six in a row since returning from US duty, with three assists.

Corona should not be on this team ahead of Benny feilhaber. I know that much.
