Thoughts on line up?

I can see what's he going for with a formation I typically don't care for much, but can let pass considering the heat. But yeesh, I wish it was Payne and Vincent starting as the fullbacks. Also, if the US can keep this lead until the last 20 minutes or so, I will feel sorry for Colombia when Green or Kiesewetter replaces Rodriguez... that circumstance may well be a recipe for another away goal, despite the overwhelming possession disadvantage.

its interesting, the sense you get from the us national team coaches is that their preference is that players should be playing in Europe. yet, here it is, crunch time, and the ostrich rolls out a couple young MLS studs at fullback. forget the fact that one of them is just "sort of" a wingback. payne has not been playing much, and he is on a club team that is moving in the wrong direction.

this might also be a glimpse into what is holding villafana from getting called in. USA actually have some good young prospects at the wingbacks, and players that can play on the right, or on the left.

Okaaay. Did you not notice how badly both fullbacks struggled, especially the one who isn't really a fullback? Try not working backwards from the answer you want it to be.

Oh, I guess the coach just out of the blue picked his wingbacks today, had nothing to do with training, or club performance. Who cares anyway, USA got the point, and is heading home in the drivers seat.
