Gee, we didn't get you anything...

Costa Rica has just done the USMNT a huge favor, beating Colombia 3-2 to hand the Group A penthouse to our boys. This of course means that we stand a delightful chance of avoiding Brazil in the quarters. This just got interesting.

Since it's past 6 am here in Russia, I'll be back tomorrow with some final thoughts on the Paraguay win. For now: sleeeeeep.

We the US finally showed some of that "nastyness" coach was talking about. Maybe too much nasty from Yedlin. However that ref was pretty tough he let a lot go that should have been fouls, especially on Wood who may have let his mouth get him in trouble and get a lot of no-calls.

NOt sure if I was the Colombian coach I would have swapped out almost the entire line up. But I would have definitely rested some of my players.

Great game Costa Rica way to represent Concacaf.

Ecuador may not be an improvement over Brazil. They've looked really good and just crushed Haiti 4-0 and it could have been much worse. They've got tons of speed which could cause problems. But easy opponents are few once you get into the knockout stages of these tournaments.

Finishing 2nd and getting Peru probably would have been the best outcome.
