Your USMNT Line-Up v. Venezuela

This strikes me as being most of the group we'll see against Trinidad & Tobago in a few days (Altidore in for Wood seems likely, and perhaps Acosta in for Nagbe). I can't be sure, but this seems to be a 4-1-3-2. That obviously is not my favorite set, but it's probably good enough to ease past the Soca Warriors. Even so, I can't imagine it would be repeated in Mexico.

I'll see you on the other side with player ratings over at MLSS, and then we'll all have a quick turnaround with the Under-20 World Cup quarterfinal against Venezuela's next generation.

Greg, what did you think of the 3-5-2 that was used in the second half? Do you see it being used in the next two games? I've read several USMNT scribes who believe the 3-5-2 will be used against T&T and Mexico.

I doubt it. To me, it just seemed like a convenient way for Arena to see all the guys he wanted to see. And frankly, if we don't run some sort of formation with four defenders and two defensive midfielders (or a dedicated #6 and a deep #8), I'd say we're highly screwed before we even begin. 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, empty bucket, whatever.
